God, Christians & Homosexuality Part 2
Tuesday, January 31st, 2012

RECAP:

Last week we finished our 2 part series on God, Christians and Homosexuality. In the second lesson we reviewed some key scriptures on homosexuality (Lev. 18:20-26, 20:13-16, Romans 1:26-27 & I Corinthians 6:9). Next, we looked at how our culture is promoting homosexuality in the media & Hollywood.

We also looked at a video of a church in Atlanta that has an openly gay pastor who is “married” to his male partner. Afterwards we discussed why homosexuality is not okay even though we are being bombarded with all kinds of propaganda that says otherwise.

The fact is that God is not okay with the acts of homosexuality just like he is not okay with heterosexuals committing fornication, being drunk, stealing, or anything else that goes against His word.

Last, we discussed how to reach the gays and lesbians in our circles of influence. First we must show them the love of God; we should not chide, or denounce those who are gay. Second we should strive to lead them to a relationship with Christ. Jesus will change them after they get saved. Next, we must become educated on the matter from a Christian standpoint (I recommend buying a book called The Gay Gospel by Joe Dallas). Last, remember to always pray for homosexuals and everyone else in our lives who don’t know Jesus. Pray that God will soften their hearts so they will receive Christ. That is it, see you tomorrow night.

Peace,

Sam, Dawn, Tracey

RECAP for 01/18/2012:

Last week we discussed a social issue that is prevalent in our society and it is growing more and more. We addressed this issue so we could get a biblical perspective of the issue and also on how we are to address the issue.

SO WHAT WAS THE ISSUE ALREADY SAMMIE……..????

I’m glad you asked, the issue was homosexuality. We started a two part series that we will finish tomorrow night at 7:15pm. We talked about God’s view of homosexuality and His view on how we should treat homosexuals. All to often we sweep the issue and the people under the rug and we don’t know how to address homosexuality (the act) and homosexuals (the people).

Leviticus 18:20-26, 20:13-16, Romans 1:26 & I Corinthians 6:9-11 all tell us that God does not approve of the act of homosexuality. However, as Christians we are to love everyone, therefore we must love people who are gay and lead them to Christ (Christ will change them in due time), but we cannot pretend like homosexuality is okay with God.

We also discussed that we must (we must) live a life that is pleasing to God. We cannot go around witnessing to homosexuals and other sinners if we are the biggest whores on campus or at the workplace (Can I get an AMEN)…………. God does not expect us to be perfect, but He does expect us to strive for holiness. As we strive for holiness (not perfection, but holiness) we can and will be examples of Godly people.

Yes!!!!! you can be a young adult and live for God and have a great life…………… that is another lesson. We will finish this current series tomorrow night.

Deuces,

Sam, Dawn, Tracey
